RWANDA LAUNCHES RENT-TO-OWN HOUSING PLAN

Rwanda is introducing a rent-to-own housing model to help low-income families transition from renting to homeownership. Starting in Mpazi and Nyabisindu, Kigali, tenants will pay monthly rent plus an extra equity contribution that can lead to ownership in about 20 years.

Expanding Access to Housing Finance

The scheme is backed by government support and more affordable financing for households unable to access traditional mortgages. The initiative is expected to widen access to affordable housing while creating a more inclusive urban property market.
