SOMALIA LICENSES 15 BANKS IN MAJOR FINANCAL REFORM

The Central Bank of Somalia has granted operating licences to 15 commercial banks — including 14 local lenders and one international institution — as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s financial system.

Officials say the move will help create a more regulated and stable banking environment capable of supporting long-term economic growth and enhancing confidence in Somalia’s financial sector.
